Our History

Nicholtown Baptist Church began in 1937 with a small group of Baptist people who were holding prayer services in their homes.  Reverend McFarland, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, served as the first pastor of NBC. Between 1937 and 1942, there were several pastors and visiting ministers who preached at NBC.  In 1942, Reverend Calvin C. Stewart, Sr. was elected to serve as pastor of NBC.   Under his leadership, membership grew, many young men from the church were ordained into the ministry, and many changes to the building took place. In 1998, NBC's name was changed to Nicholtown Missionary Baptist due to active involvement in foreign mission work.  Reverend Stewart served NMBC, faithfully, for 57 years. He retired in 1999.

After two years of searching for a pastor, the congregation elected Reverend. Victor L. Walker, a North Carolina native. Reverend Walker was instrumental in leading NMBC to acquire its 501(c) 3 classification, implementing numerous activities, and acquiring land for church expansion.

On January 25, 2012, Rev. Darian D. Blue, a Florida native, was elected to serve as pastor.  Under Pastor Blue’s leadership, the congregation has grown to over 300+ members.

What We Believe

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God.

We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins and on the third morning He rose for our Justification.

According to scripture, accepting Christ as your Savior is the only way to heaven.

We believe that the key to successful living is Loving God and Loving our neighbor as we love ourselves.
